What’s Alliance for Social Justice (ASJ)?
The Alliance for Social Justice (ASJ) was established to address the critical need for social justice and community resilience in Myanmar’s conflict-affected regions. Our organization has a distinguished history of conducting rigorous research on social equity challenges and implementing comprehensive capacity-building initiatives alongside local partners.
Since the major socio-political shifts in 2021, our efforts have focused on documenting impacts on communities and delivering vital training in:
- Risk mitigation and community safety.
- Health and education support.
- Promoting gender equality and preventing gender-based harm.
Furthermore, we prioritize the provision of educational sessions on foundational socio-political concepts, collaborating closely with local civil society and key stakeholders to enhance grassroots understanding of principles essential for sustainable development and democratic participation.

Monitoring Community Impacts and Promoting Accountability
In response to the major socio-political shifts following 2021, ASJ has prioritized gathering evidence of their impact on affected communities across Myanmar. Our Training Initiatives
Risk Reduction Training
Our risk reduction training equips community members with the knowledge and skills to navigate and mitigate the dangers posed by ongoing conflicts. Participants learn essential strategies to protect themselves and their families in volatile environments.
Health Education Workshops
We provide health education workshops that cover critical topics such as disease prevention, mental health support, and access to healthcare services. These workshops aim to improve overall community health and well-being.
Educational Support Training
Our Education Support Training program is meticulously designed to enhance the competencies of educators and volunteers, equipping them with advanced methodologies to deliver more effective and impactful educational experiences for children residing in conflict-affected regions.
Gender Equality Programs
Our gender equality programs focus on empowering women and promoting gender equity. Through these initiatives, we address issues such as gender-based violence, women’s rights, and equal opportunities for all genders.
Democracy, Human Rights and Federalsim Training
We offer training sessions on democracy, human rights, and federalism to educate grassroots communities on these vital socio-political concepts. Our goal is to foster a more informed and engaged citizenry that can advocate for their rights and participate in democratic processes.
